Nursery

The nursery is almost complete, so I decided to post some pictures for y'all to see. I've had a great time putting it together and making it a special place for our new little guy. It still needs some finishing touches...curtains, a canvas painting a friend is making, and of course the wooden name letters, but those will be revealed after he's born since the name is a secret! Oh one more thing it needs....a baby!!!

The box painted above the bed contains a quote, "I am fearfully and wonderfully made." Psalm 139:14. I chose this quote because I love the entire chapter it is a part of. Verse 13 says, "For you created my inmost being, you knit me together in my mother's womb." Wow, what an awesome reality that is! All throughout my pregnancy I think about that fact, that God is knitting together this baby boy inside of me, He knows every part of my son, He knows what lies ahead for him. That is just so amazing to me, so I was excited to find this verse to put on the nursery wall.

Psalm 139

3 You discern my going out and my lying down; you are familiar with all my ways.
4 Before a word is on my tongue you know it completely, O LORD.

Isaac's a biker now!

Isaac has had two different bikes for months now, close to a year probably. But he always refuses to use the pedals; I think he feels unstable when using them, so he just walks the bike. Any time we asked him to use the pedals he would quickly say, "All done, all done!" This morning I turned on Sesame Street for him, not that he really watches, but every now and then he will look at it. When I turned it on Elmo happened to be on, and Elmo is the only character he recognizes. Elmo was riding a tricycle, so I took full advantage of the opportunity and made a big deal about watching Elmo use the pedals. Then Elmo and a man started teaching Elmo's pink friend (I don't know her name) how to ride her tricycle, using the pedals. They were telling her the same things we tell Isaac. I made a big deal out of it, and talked all about how she was pushing the pedals and doing such a great job. Then I got really excited for her when she did it on her own.

This afternoon while playing outside I asked Isaac if he wanted to ride his bike like Elmo did, using the pedals. He jumped right on it, put his feet on the pedals, and off he went!!! Wow!!! Not a problem at all, like he had always been doing it! Carl was outside, too, so we both went crazy when he did it and praised him a lot! He loved that of course, and I think he loved using the pedals, too! We're so proud of our new little cyclist!

38 Weeks Pregnant

38 weeks! Wow, I cannot even believe I am already 38 weeks, the time has flown by, but I definitely feel 38 weeks pregnant! A friend told me when I was pregnant with Isaac to be sure and enjoy it because the second time is not near as great. I thought she was crazy, there's no way, pregnancy is such a beautiful miracle! Well, she was right. I mean, it is still a beautiful miracle, but it is harder to enjoy it the second time when you are chasing around a toddler and you cannot relax when you want/need to. Well, though it's been tough at times I really cannot complain too much, I have been blessed with a good pregnancy and a sweet toddler to chase around. I love feeling the baby move, and I will definitely miss that when the pregnancy is over; it is so amazing to feel him kick and wiggle and realize that there really is a little baby inside of me! Wow, how incredible is our God that He makes that happen!

I had an ultrasound about a week and a half ago, everything looked good, and the Doctor said I have a peanut...yay! They guessed at that point that he was 5 pounds 3 oz, and that I would deliver a 6-7 pound baby. Yay! Isaac was 6 pounds 15 oz, so hopefully this little guy will be about the same size, no bigger. =) I am hoping he'll come early, but as we all know Isaac was a week late, so even though I'm hoping and keep telling him he can come, I'm not counting on it. We'll see though, every pregnancy is different, right!?!

I am so anxious to meet our newest son, to introduce he and Isaac, and to hold him in my arms. Even though there are tough days and pregnancy is sometimes a big pain, I wouldn't trade it for anything, every second is worth it, and I am completely thankful for the chance to carry this baby for nine months. What an honor it is that God trusts us with His children.

Ranch and Flowers

Today was a fun day! We had to take some stuff over to a friend's house to prepare for a garage sale tomorrow, so we made it a family event. After dropping off the junk, we headed out to a friend's ranch to pick up a trailer. We were hoping there might be some bluebonnets, yes I realize we are a little late for bluebonnets, but I was still hoping. Unfortunately, there were not any bluebonnets at the ranch, but there were other beautiful flowers in the fields. We took some fun pictures of Isaac in the flowers. Isaac loves to pick flowers, even asks to get out of the truck while driving if he sees flowers to pick. Ha! So he was more into picking the flowers and looking at them than at smiling for my pictures. That's okay, I got some good candid shots of him doing what he enjoys.

After the pictures we had to get the trailer and hook it up to my truck...another one of Isaac's favorite things, trailers! He was very into watching Carl move the truck and hook it up to the trailer, or du wa du as he calls it.

The entire drive home he talked about the truck and the trailer, going back to Mr. Chris' ranch, and picking flowers. In case you haven't been around him lately, he does not stop talking, ever, especially while driving! So we heard a lot about the days events. I am thankful for his love of talking and his abilities, he is learning so much and it makes me smile to hear him tell me all about what he's thinking.

Du wa du!!!

Isaac has quite a fascination for cars, trucks, and trailers...such a boy, I know! His imagination is growing daily, which is so amazing to watch. Last week he blew me away with his creativity. He backed his car up to the coffee table and said his car had a trailer on it! Wow! Okay, so I have to share this, too, because it's funny...instead of saying trailer, he calls it a "Du wa du." Ha ha! So in Isaac's language he said, "Isaac's auto du wa du on!" I am so proud of my little guy, gosh he's growing so fast!

Baby Shower

We have been blessed with amazing friends and family, whose love and support mean so much to us. This past weekend that was proven to us once again, as they threw me a baby shower. It was such a special time shared with my girls as we celebrated the upcoming birth of our new baby boy. As you all know pregnancy did not come easy to us through the years, so to be pregnant now again with our second son is a miracle and something we don't take for granted. I truly loved taking a few hours to focus on the new baby boy and celebrate him. Thank you to all that were a part of the special day and for your sweet generosity.

King's Orchard

Carl went hunting with some friends this past weekend, so I was looking for something new and fun to do with Isaac. Jenny (who's husband was also gone) and I decided to take the kids out to King's Orchard to pick strawberries. We talked about it all week, and were pretty excited about it! Saturday morning came, and when we walked outside it was raining! What a bummer! Well, we didn't let it stop us, we went out there anyway, and I'm so glad we did. It rained lightly on us the entire time, but that didn't bother the kids at all, and we still enjoyed it, too! Isaac really got into picking the strawberries, he got the hang of it real quick. Everytime we'd pick one he'd say, "more!" He needed my help to pick them, but then put them in the basket for me and even carried the basket some. It was a fun and memorable day for sure, I'm so thankful we didn't let the rain scare us away!

If you live in the Houston area and haven't been out there, I definitely recommend you go, it is a fun experience for the kids! Plus, the strawberries are delicious!!!

New Haircut!

Today has been a fantastic day so far! We started the day by going to stortytime at the library. I have never taken Isaac to anything like this, so I was a little nervous about how it might go. Well, it was so fun! Isaac did great, he was actually a little intimidated by the other kids, so he was very calm and stayed close to me the whole time. He was quiet during the stories, watched and listened as everyone sang songs, and then colored a beautiful butterfly. During one story a kitten was looking for his mama, the story said, "Where is mama?" Isaac said, "Mama!" Haha! That was all he said the whole time. I think he enjoyed it!

Next, we went to get Isaac a new haircut. His hair had gotten quite long and scraggly, so it was time! Carl and I decided that it was time to cut it shorter and give him a true little boy haircut. Oh my goodness, I love it! It definitely makes him look more grown up, not my baby any more, but sooo cute! He was so good during the haircut, too. The last two times he's gotten a haircut he was very shy and clingy, he had to sit in my lap. This time though he was such a big boy, he sat all by himself in the firetruck and played while she cut his hair. He did say, "Mama." and reach out to me a few times, but overall he was a big boy! I am so proud of what a sweet, big boy Isaac is becoming! I love every new experience with him, and watching him learn and grow!

By the way....he must have enjoyed the morning as much as me because he is actually napping!!! It's a miracle! Yay! That means it's time for me to rest, so I'm signing off!

Happy Easter Y'all! What a glorious day it is! Easter is a day that can so easily get away from us, the real meaning of it that is, but what an important and amazing day it is!

And the angel said to the women, "Do not be afraid, for I know that you are looking for Jesus, who was crucified. 6 He is not here; HE HAS RISEN, JUST AS HE SAID..." Matthew 5

We celebrated Easter a little differently this year as we try to establish our fmaily traditions, but also we tried to keep it as easy as possible on me since I am not as full of energy as ususal.

We celebrated on Friday with Carl's family, we had a nice dinner and then an egg hunt for the kids. Oh how Isaac enjoyed that! Yesterday we went out the Annual Tomball Easter Egg Hunt. Wow, what a turn out! We didn't know what to expect there, as we had never been to the Tomball egg hunt, but it was a great time! There was a petting zoo, moonwalks, a playground, food, and of course the hunt! Isaac was in the 0-4 age group, which was a big event. There was a baseball field covered in eggs, which were gone in about 2 minutes! Isaac got about 6 eggs before they were all gone, you had to be quick! Isaac's timid side sure showed, if went for an egg and another child came over to get the egg he would stop and let them get it...such a sweetie! Thankfully the parents were always near by and told their children to let Isaac get it if he was there first. Ovearll it was a fabulous day! Today Carl and I went to church, which was a wonderful remembrance of Christ's resurrection. Isaac stayed with Emmy while we went to church and he had a great time, of course! This afternoon has been a quiet day here at the house, and soon we will have dinner with Tante Soo Jin. Speaking of dinner, I better get to cooking!

Forgot to mention...we have fantastic neighbors, which I know I've mentioned before, but it is so true! This weekend it was proven again, Isaac was given a new play house and a sandbox from a sweet neighbor. Needless to say he loves the playhouse! We will put the sandbox away for a bit, since he doesn't like to get dirty. =)
